WHO IS MARJANE?

Marie-Jeanne Paquet is a jazz vocalist, singer songwriter, actress and artist currently completing her Bachelor of music in Jazz Performance at McGill’s Schulich School of Music. She is a creative in all spheres of her life, from making original music, to online content, and visual art.

She first pursued classical violin studies at l’École de Musique Vincent d’Indy along with private lessons for a total of 12 years, during which she acquired stage experience as well as a drive to perform anywhere she could. Marie-Jeanne then became interested in vocal performance at the age of 15. In 2020, she graduated from Vanier College with a double degree in Music and Science, where she studied Jazz vocals with Sharada Banman and was named on the Dean’s Honour Roll for every semester, receiving one of the college’s few graduation bursaries.

Marie-Jeanne is now working on her original music independently, going by the name Marjane on all online streaming platforms. In August 2020, she released her fist EP, Flowers for a Lady as well as her first single East of the Sun, and performed her original music at various venues such as La Petite Marche, Local Legends, Brutopia, Hurley’s, Quai Des Brumes and La Marche d’à Côté. She promotes her music and creates most of the visual art associated with her brand herself.

 

Since 2018, she has been working with local company Montreal Princess Party, singing and acting for various Disney themed shows, fundraisers, corporate events and hospital visits. She also has been teaching music lessons to children of varying ages since 2017, working at the West Island Music Academy, and for Université de Montréal as a private instructor and choir teacher for their student services program.
